A few things you should know about a great FileMaker experience

There are 2 software pieces that make up a proper FileMaker hosting environment. FileMaker Server and
FileMaker Pro. Server is the background and hosts the database files. FileMaker Pro is the database
development tool and client front end. Pro is capable of hosting the files or sharing them with other PC's and MAC 's
but it is more risky and less efficient. Risky in that a local computer hosting the files with Pro is more susceptible to
a system crash and leaves your databases more exposed, less secure. Serious FileMaker professionals will suggest you purchase FileMaker Server to serve the files.

In addition to security and reliability, the efficiency of Server includes built-in backup scheduling for your databases.
File corruption can occur when a system crash occurs. FileMaker Pro does have a Recover routine for corrupted databases
but sometimes files are damaged beyond repair. ALWAYS setup 2-3 backup schedules per day, 7 days a week.
Backup to Monday 11AM folder, Monday 7PM folder, Tuesday 11AM, Tuesday 7PM etc.. This will ensure you have multiple sets of backup data from which to reconstruct your data. In addition I suggest using offsite backup services such as
http://computerbackup.connected.com/ . These services will backup the backup folders automatically at schedules you set up for less than a dollar a day. NEVER ATTEMPT TO BACKUP THE LIVE DATABASES with any backup software other than the built-in scheduler in FileMaker Server.

Visit the FileMaker online store at https://store.filemaker.com/  and get a bundled package of FileMaker Pro client seats
and FileMaker Server. Look for Specials.

Get setup properly in the beginning and sit back and relax with confidence. FileMaker is the best solution for long term, cost effective database solutions.
